The events, which kicked off on February 6th and will continue throughout the month, bring together hundreds of high school students from across the region to compete in various skills-based competitions.

SkillsUSA Events at HCC: A Platform for Future Skilled Professionals
The SkillsUSA events at HCC are designed to provide a platform for high school students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in various trades, including construction, automotive technology, health sciences, information technology, and the culinary arts. The competitions are held in state-of-the-art facilities that mirror professional job sites, where students are evaluated by industry experts and educators on their technical ability, teamwork, problem-solving, safety, and professionalism.

HCC's Commitment to Developing Skilled Workforce
According to HCC Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D., the SkillsUSA events are a direct investment in Houston's future workforce. 'By opening our modern and advanced facilities to these talented students, we are showing them that rewarding, high-wage careers are within reach,' she said. The events are part of HCC's efforts to develop a skilled workforce that can meet the demands of the growing economy.

Competitions and Events Schedule
The SkillsUSA events will take place across several HCC campuses throughout February, with various competitions scheduled for different dates. The first competition was held on February 6th at the Southeast Campus, which focused on skilled trades such as welding, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical technology. Other competitions include a cosmetology and personal services event on February 13th, an automotive and transportation competition on February 27th, and a health sciences competition on February 20th.

The SkillsUSA events at HCC are an exciting opportunity for high school students to showcase their skills and knowledge in various trades.
